Regulation-First, DBT-Informed Groups for Real Life
Regulation-First, DBT-Informed Groups for Real Life
These groups offer a structured, supportive space to build emotional regulation, clarity, and connection—
without pressure, performance, or the need to “get it right.”
They are non-clinical, educational, and skill-based, grounded in:
- nervous system science
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy
The focus is simple:
helping the body settle so learning, reflection, and meaningful change can actually occur.
A Different Kind of Group Experience
Many people already understand why they feel overwhelmed, reactive, or stuck
AND their body remains on high alert.
When the nervous system is activated, insight alone does not integrate.
Regulation creates the conditions where:
- learning can land
- skills can be practiced
- change can hold
A Regulation-Supportive Environment
Group work is most effective when the nervous system feels safe.
In some offerings, the environment may include the Light System Room,
a regulation-supportive space designed to enhance:
- focus
- physiological safety
- skill integration
This is not about doing therapy “better.”
It’s about creating the conditions where change is experienced in the body—
not just understood in the mind.
Current Groups
Women's Group
Relationships & Connection
This group is for women who want healthier, more connected relationships
AND do not want to lose themselves in the process.
We explore how:
- nervous system patterns
- attachment wounds
- past relational harm
shape the way you connect, react, and protect yourself.
Using DBT-informed skills and guided reflection, participants learn to:
- recognize old patterns
- regulate emotional responses
- respond with greater clarity and self-respect
This group may be helpful if you:
- Feel anxious, guarded, or disconnected in relationships
- Struggle with boundaries or over-functioning
- Repeat relationship patterns you don’t fully understand
- Want connection without self-abandonment
The focus is not on fixing yourself or others—
but on building awareness, regulation, and choice.
Holding What Hurts
Grief & Loss
This group offers a space to hold grief
without rushing it, explaining it away, or trying to “move on.”
Grief can take many forms:
- the loss of a person
- the loss of a relationship
- the loss of safety
- the loss of the life you expected
This group centers nervous system regulation alongside gentle reflection,
allowing grief to be experienced with steadiness rather than overwhelm.
This group may be helpful if you:
- Feel stuck, numb, or emotionally flooded after loss
- Carry grief that has not had space to be acknowledged
- Want support without pressure to share more than feels safe
- Need a place where grief is honored—not managed
Important Note
Groups are educational and supportive, not psychotherapy.
They may be used alongside individual therapy or as a standalone support.
